Periorbital puffiness, commonly known as eye puffiness, results from fluid accumulation in the tissues surrounding the eyes and may arise from various factors. Aging contributes to this condition as the skin and muscles around the eyes lose firmness over time. Allergies can trigger inflammation and congestion, leading to localized swelling. Dietary habits, particularly excessive salt intake, promote water retention, exacerbating puffiness. Sleep deprivation similarly results in fluid and blood retention in the periorbital area.
