About the Brand
Brand logo
Founded by beauty industry expert Begoña Sanjuán and chemist Dr. Isabel Ramos, Ayuna brings together Spanish skincare heritage and advanced green biotechnology. Guided by the philosophy “Less Is Beauty,” the brand creates high-performance, eco-certified formulas that deliver visible results while respecting your skin and the environment. Each product is designed to simplify routines without compromising efficacy.

Ayuna proves that vegan, plant-powered skincare can match or exceed the results of the most advanced luxury brands. Each formula integrates epigenetic factors to optimise skin function at a cellular level, restoring balance, strengthening resilience, and enhancing brightness, without sacrificing sustainability or luxury sensoriality.

Ayuna takes a different approach to anti-ageing by working at the source of skin ageing. Instead of masking signs on the surface, lab-cultivated plant stem cells and advanced extracts retrain how your skin cells behave. This means faster renewal, stronger repair, and better structure. The result is fewer wrinkles, smoother texture, and firmer, more plump skin with lasting vitality.

Chemical Exfoliation

Chemical exfoliation uses acids to dissolve the "glue" holding dead skin cells together, promoting skin cell turnover and replacing old cells with new, healthy ones. Acids like AHAs, BHAs, and PHAs not only help shed skin but also offer benefits like brightening, clarifying, and anti-ageing, depending on the type used.

Brightening (Energising)

Brightening skincare involves using active ingredients to boost your blood circulation, detoxification and cellular energy. Improved blood circulation brings more essential nutrients and oxygen to your skin, while detoxification helps eliminate cell waste and impurities that can make your skin look dull. Certain active ingredients also enhance your skin's metabolism and regeneration. These combined actions restore your skin's vitality and radiant appearance, giving you a fresh, energised complexion.

Microbiome Balancing

Microbiome Balancing skincare focuses on supporting the skin’s ecosystem through a precise combination of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics—each playing a distinct and complementary role. Prebiotics act as a targeted nutrient source, feeding and promoting the growth of beneficial microorganisms to maintain balance within the skin’s microbiome. Probiotics then introduce and reinforce these beneficial bacteria, helping to strengthen the skin’s natural defenses and reduce the presence of harmful strains. Postbiotics, the bioactive compounds produced through this process, enhance overall skin function by supporting barrier strength, improving hydration, and calming inflammation. Together, this synergistic approach stabilises the skin environment, resulting in a complexion that is clearer, more resilient, and visibly healthier.

Skin Barrier Strengthening

Strengthening your skin barrier involves replenishing the key elements in the top layer of your skin (stratum corneum), leading to a stronger and healthier barrier. These essential elements include lipids (ceramides, fatty acids, and cholesterol) and Natural Moisturizing Factors (amino acids, hyaluronic acid, etc.). Various factors, such as incorrect skincare use, seasonal changes, and aesthetic treatments, can damage your skin barrier. When this happens, your skin loses excess water through Trans Epidermal Water Loss (T.E.W.L) and becomes less capable of defending against environmental stressors, resulting in dryness, sensitivity, and irritation.

A healthy skin barrier is crucial for overall skin health as it helps prevent hydration loss, protects against environmental damage, and reduces the risk of skin conditions like eczema and acne. By strengthening your skin barrier, you ensure your skin remains well-hydrated, resilient, and protected.

Reduces Trans Epidermal Water Loss

Reducing Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) is key to maintaining your skin’s optimal hydration levels. By strengthening your skin’s natural barrier, these ingredients prevent water from escaping, keeping your skin well-hydrated and plump. The result is a smoother, more supple complexion with improved texture and resilience, giving you a healthier, more radiant look.

Non-Comedogenic

Non-comedogenic skincare is specifically formulated to avoid clogging pores, making it ideal for skin prone to congestion, breakouts, or excess oil. These formulations are carefully designed using ingredients that do not block the pore or contribute to the build-up of sebum and debris within it, allowing the skin to function normally without obstruction. By maintaining clear pores and supporting a balanced skin environment, non-comedogenic products help reduce the likelihood of blackheads, whiteheads, and blemishes.

Physical Exfoliation

Physical exfoliation focuses on manually removing dead skin cells and surface buildup to instantly smooth and refine the skin. Using fine particles or textured tools, it works to lift away dulling debris, excess oil, and impurities that can contribute to rough texture and clogged pores. This process not only clears the skin’s surface but also helps to decongest pores, allowing them to appear smaller and more refined. By promoting a smoother, more even skin texture and enhancing the effectiveness of subsequent products, physical exfoliation leaves the complexion looking brighter, clearer, and more polished.

Purifying

Purifying skincare is designed to deeply cleanse and decongest the skin by targeting excess oil at its source—within the pores. Rather than simply removing surface shine, these formulations work to dissolve and dislodge sebum, debris, and impurities trapped inside the pore lining, helping to prevent congestion, blackheads, and breakouts. Actives such as exfoliating acids and oil-regulating ingredients penetrate into the pore to effectively “strip out” excess oil, restoring clarity and refining skin texture. By clearing buildup from within, purifying treatments leave the skin feeling exceptionally clean, balanced and visibly smoother.

Hydrating

Hydration is a fundamental part of healthy skincare, focusing on maintaining and restoring the skin’s water content. Well-hydrated skin appears plump, smooth and radiant, while dehydration can lead to dullness, tightness, fine lines and increased sensitivity.
Hydrating the skin can work through a fascinating mix of ingredients with different roles. Humectants like hyaluronic acid and glycerin act like water magnets, pulling water into the skin to instantly plump and smooth, while Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs)—such as urea, amino acids and sodium PCA—mimic the skin’s own hydration system, helping it hold onto water and stay balanced from within.
Adding humectants like hyaluronic acid to your routine will restore your skin's healthy glow, minimize fine lines, and provide a plumping effect.

Pore Decongesting

Pore decongesting focuses on both clearing and minimising the appearance of enlarged pores. Enlarged pores often result from excess oil production and the build-up of impurities within the pore, which can stretch them over time, while ageing further contributes as reduced elasticity makes them more visible. Effective formulations work first to clear the pores—dissolving and removing trapped sebum, debris, and congestion—before regulating oil production and supporting collagen and elastin to improve skin firmness. By addressing both internal build-up and structural integrity, pores can return to a clearer, more refined, and less noticeable state.

Detoxifying

Detoxifying skincare focuses on clearing the skin of accumulated pollutants, toxins, and metabolic waste that can dull the complexion and disrupt healthy function. Daily exposure to environmental aggressors such as pollution and oxidative stress can overwhelm the skin, leading to congestion, imbalance, and premature ageing. Advanced detoxifying formulations work to neutralise these impurities, support the skin’s natural elimination processes, and reduce the buildup of harmful particles within pores and on the surface. By restoring clarity and balance, this approach leaves the skin feeling purified, refreshed and visibly brighter.

Anti-Wrinkle

Anti-wrinkle skincare is focused on both preventing and visibly reducing the formation of lines by targeting the structural and dynamic causes of wrinkles within the skin. Fine lines and deeper wrinkles develop as collagen and elastin decline, cell turnover slows and repeated facial movements create creases that become etched over time. Advanced formulations address these mechanisms through a combination of elastin-stimulating actives, smoothing peptides that help relax the appearance of expression lines, and deeply hydrating ingredients that plump the skin from within. By reinforcing the skin’s architecture while softening surface contractions and improving elasticity, anti-wrinkle skincare delivers a visibly smoother complexion.

Plumping

Plumping involves using active ingredients to boost the production of key structural components like collagen, the dermal-epidermal junction and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), giving your skin more volume and density. Collagen provides structural support and firmness, while the dermal-epidermal junction, a thin connective layer, ensures smooth, wrinkle-free skin by facilitating cell communication. GAGs, like hyaluronic acid, keep your skin hydrated and plump from within. By stimulating these components, active ingredients help restore your skin's plumpness and radiance.

Antioxidant

Antioxidant skincare is dedicated to protecting the skin against oxidative stress—one of the primary drivers of premature ageing and cellular damage—while preserving overall skin integrity and vitality. These formulations rely on potent molecules such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and polyphenols, which neutralize free radicals generated by UV exposure and environmental aggressors before they can compromise cellular structures like lipids, proteins, and DNA. Beyond defence, many antioxidants also support repair processes and enhance collagen stability, contributing to improved firmness, brightness and resilience. The result is skin that is not only shielded from ongoing damage but maintained in a healthier, more luminous state over time.

Nourishing

Nourishing skincare focuses on replenishing the skin with essential lipids, nutrients, and bioactive compounds to restore comfort, resilience, and optimal function. When the skin is depleted—whether through environmental stress, over-exfoliation, or natural ageing—it can become dry, fragile, and less able to protect itself. Nourishing formulations work to rebuild the lipid barrier using ingredients rich in fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, helping to reinforce the skin’s structure while supporting repair and reducing moisture loss. By restoring what the skin lacks, this approach leaves it softer, stronger, and more supple.

Poly-Hydroxy Acids

Poly-Hydroxy Acids are a chemical exfoliant which exfoliate the top layers of the skin. However unlike AHAs & BHAs, they consist of larger molecules so they tend to sit on the surface of the skin for longer and penetrate slowly. Therefore, they are particularly good for more sensitive skins. As well as sloughing off dead skin cells, revealing a smoother, clearer and brighter complexion; this acid is also a fantastic hydrator.

Fermented Lactobacillus & Cocos Nuci-fera

Fermented Lactobacillus & Cocos Nucifera Extract is derived from the fermentation of Lactobacillus Bacteria and Coconut Juice. This process releases natural sugars that serve as probiotics on the skin, enhancing the balance of the skin microbiome. It promotes the growth of beneficial microorganisms while safeguarding against harmful bacteria. In addition to supporting the microbiome, it functions as a natural preservative and skin softener.

Squalane

Squalane is a skin-identical lipid with a high affinity for the skin. Naturally found in human sebum, it enhances the skin's barrier function and promotes efficient water retention. Lightweight and non-comedogenic, squalane is suitable for all skin types.

Microcrystalline Phytocellulose

Microcrystalline Cellulose is a refined form of cellulose from plant cell walls, delivering a super gentle, non-abrasive exfoliation to reveal smoother, more radiant skin. As a biodegradable and environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic exfoliants, it is ultra-gentle and suitable for all skin types. Unlike other scrubbing agents, this ingredient also provides added antioxidant benefits, making it a superior choice.

Organic Lemon Water

Organic Lemon Water is a revitalising skincare ingredient known for its refreshing and purifying properties. This 100% Organic Lemon Water replenishes skin's hydration reservoirs. Rich in Vitamin C and Antioxidants it brightens the complexion, tightens pores, and reduces imperfections. Its natural astringent qualities cleanse and detoxify the skin, leaving it fresh and rejuvenated.

Glutamic Acid

Glutamic Acid, a naturally occurring amino acid, it acts as a potent humectant, attracting and retaining water molecules to maintain optimal hydration levels. By boosting hydration in the skin, Glutamic Acid helps to maintain efficient cell turnover, smooth the skin's texture and plump up wrinkles, leaving the complexion soft, supple and rejuvenated.

Olea Europea Oil

Olea Europea Oil also known as Olive oil is rich in fatty acids and antioxidants, offering nourishing and protective benefits for the skin. Abundant in Vitamin E, it shields the skin from cell-damageing free radicals, effectively preventing premature skin ageing. Its high content of Fatty Acids improves barrier function and hydration levels, while its anti-inflammatory properties help reduce skin sensitivity for a healthy and balanced complexion.

Physical & Chemical Exfoliation

Physical and chemical exfoliation are two popular techniques for removing dead skin cells and promoting a healthier, more radiant complexion. Each method offers unique benefits and targets skin concerns differently, making them key components in any effective skincare routine. Exfoliation helps to improve skin texture, unclog pores, and enhance the absorption of skincare products, leading to smoother, brighter skin.

Physical exfoliation offers immediate results, while chemical exfoliation promotes deeper, longer-lasting effects without the risk of physical irritation. Physical exfoliation involves the use of scrubs, brushes, or cloths with granules that manually slough off dead skin cells from the surface. This method provides instant smoothness but can sometimes cause micro-tears, making it less suitable for sensitive skin types.

Chemical exfoliation, on the other hand, employs acids (like AHAs, BHAs) or enzymes to dissolve dead skin cells at a deeper level. This process promotes cell turnover, enhances the skin’s natural renewal process, and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation, and dullness without abrasive action, making it gentler for sensitive skin.

Physical exfoliation delivers a quick, refreshed feel, but those with sensitive skin might find it too abrasive. Chemical exfoliation gradually reveals smoother, brighter skin with regular use, and is generally better suited for those seeking a gentler approach with deeper results. Users often notice improved skin clarity, reduced congestion, and an overall glow.

Both exfoliation methods have their place in a skincare routine, offering tailored solutions depending on skin type and needs. By choosing the right type of exfoliation, you can achieve a smoother, more radiant complexion that feels fresh, revitalised, and renewed, enhancing your overall skin health and appearance.
