The Alpha Beta Hydroxy Pads by Dr. Lara Devgan are advanced exfoliating treatment pads that target congestion, blemishes, uneven texture, pigmentation and dullness, combining a triple-acid complex with soothing and barrier-supporting actives to reveal a smoother, clearer and more radiant complexion without compromising skin comfort.

Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid form the pads' multi-acid exfoliating complex. Salicylic Acid penetrates deep within the pores to dissolve excess sebum, reduce congestion and minimise blemishes, while Glycolic Acid accelerates cellular renewal to refine texture, soften fine lines and improve radiance. Lactic Acid complements this action by gently exfoliating while supporting the skin's Natural Moisturising Factor, helping to maintain hydration and comfort throughout the renewal process.

Beta-Glucan, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice and Licorice Root Extract work together to soothe, calm and protect the skin following exfoliation. Beta-Glucan reinforces the skin barrier and supports recovery, while Aloe Vera replenishes hydration and reduces irritation. Licorice Root Extract further calms redness, brightens uneven skin tone and promotes a healthier, more balanced complexion.

Allantoin provides restorative support by helping to reduce sensitivity and strengthen the skin's natural repair processes. Together, these barrier-supporting ingredients minimise discomfort while enhancing skin resilience, leaving the complexion smoother, brighter and visibly more refined with continued use.

Chemical Exfoliation

Chemical exfoliation uses acids to dissolve the "glue" holding dead skin cells together, promoting skin cell turnover and replacing old cells with new, healthy ones. Acids like AHAs, BHAs, and PHAs not only help shed skin but also offer benefits like brightening, clarifying, and anti-ageing, depending on the type used.

Sebum Regulating (Mattifying)

Sebum regulation involves normalising oil production in your sebaceous glands to reduce shine, oiliness and breakouts, restoring your skin's natural balance. Overactive sebaceous glands can be triggered by internal factors like genetics, hormonal changes and stress, as well as external factors such as using stripping or overly active skincare, climate, pollution and diet. Excessive sebum production can lead to enlarged pores, acne and an oily, shiny appearance. Effective sebum regulation means using skincare products that balance oil levels without over-drying your skin, helping you achieve a clearer, more matte complexion.

Purifying

Purifying skincare is designed to deeply cleanse and decongest the skin by targeting excess oil at its source—within the pores. Rather than simply removing surface shine, these formulations work to dissolve and dislodge sebum, debris, and impurities trapped inside the pore lining, helping to prevent congestion, blackheads, and breakouts. Actives such as exfoliating acids and oil-regulating ingredients penetrate into the pore to effectively “strip out” excess oil, restoring clarity and refining skin texture. By clearing buildup from within, purifying treatments leave the skin feeling exceptionally clean, balanced and visibly smoother.

Anti-Inflammatory

Anti-Inflammatory skincare soothes, heal, and balance your skin, the targeted actives are designed to reduce inflammation. Inflammation is your body's natural response to injury or irritation, but continuous inflammation can lead to troublesome skin conditions like acne, rosacea, or eczema. Our anti-inflammatory skincare solutions work to soothe and calm your skin, reducing redness, swelling, and discomfort to provide much-needed relief. By strengthening your skin's barrier, these products help protect against further irritation and damage. Additionally, the anti-inflammatory actives support your skin's natural healing processes, leading to a more balanced and resilient complexion.

Pore Decongesting

Pore decongesting focuses on both clearing and minimising the appearance of enlarged pores. Enlarged pores often result from excess oil production and the build-up of impurities within the pore, which can stretch them over time, while ageing further contributes as reduced elasticity makes them more visible. Effective formulations work first to clear the pores—dissolving and removing trapped sebum, debris, and congestion—before regulating oil production and supporting collagen and elastin to improve skin firmness. By addressing both internal build-up and structural integrity, pores can return to a clearer, more refined, and less noticeable state.

Hydrating

Hydration is a fundamental part of healthy skincare, focusing on maintaining and restoring the skin’s water content. Well-hydrated skin appears plump, smooth and radiant, while dehydration can lead to dullness, tightness, fine lines and increased sensitivity.
Hydrating the skin can work through a fascinating mix of ingredients with different roles. Humectants like hyaluronic acid and glycerin act like water magnets, pulling water into the skin to instantly plump and smooth, while Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs)—such as urea, amino acids and sodium PCA—mimic the skin’s own hydration system, helping it hold onto water and stay balanced from within.
Adding humectants like hyaluronic acid to your routine will restore your skin's healthy glow, minimize fine lines, and provide a plumping effect.

Microbiome Balancing

Microbiome Balancing skincare focuses on supporting the skin’s ecosystem through a precise combination of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics—each playing a distinct and complementary role. Prebiotics act as a targeted nutrient source, feeding and promoting the growth of beneficial microorganisms to maintain balance within the skin’s microbiome. Probiotics then introduce and reinforce these beneficial bacteria, helping to strengthen the skin’s natural defenses and reduce the presence of harmful strains. Postbiotics, the bioactive compounds produced through this process, enhance overall skin function by supporting barrier strength, improving hydration, and calming inflammation. Together, this synergistic approach stabilises the skin environment, resulting in a complexion that is clearer, more resilient, and visibly healthier.

Plumping

Plumping involves using active ingredients to boost the production of key structural components like collagen, the dermal-epidermal junction and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), giving your skin more volume and density. Collagen provides structural support and firmness, while the dermal-epidermal junction, a thin connective layer, ensures smooth, wrinkle-free skin by facilitating cell communication. GAGs, like hyaluronic acid, keep your skin hydrated and plump from within. By stimulating these components, active ingredients help restore your skin's plumpness and radiance.

Anti-Wrinkle

Anti-wrinkle skincare is focused on both preventing and visibly reducing the formation of lines by targeting the structural and dynamic causes of wrinkles within the skin. Fine lines and deeper wrinkles develop as collagen and elastin decline, cell turnover slows and repeated facial movements create creases that become etched over time. Advanced formulations address these mechanisms through a combination of elastin-stimulating actives, smoothing peptides that help relax the appearance of expression lines, and deeply hydrating ingredients that plump the skin from within. By reinforcing the skin’s architecture while softening surface contractions and improving elasticity, anti-wrinkle skincare delivers a visibly smoother complexion.

Skin Barrier Strengthening

Strengthening your skin barrier involves replenishing the key elements in the top layer of your skin (stratum corneum), leading to a stronger and healthier barrier. These essential elements include lipids (ceramides, fatty acids, and cholesterol) and Natural Moisturizing Factors (amino acids, hyaluronic acid, etc.). Various factors, such as incorrect skincare use, seasonal changes, and aesthetic treatments, can damage your skin barrier. When this happens, your skin loses excess water through Trans Epidermal Water Loss (T.E.W.L) and becomes less capable of defending against environmental stressors, resulting in dryness, sensitivity, and irritation.

A healthy skin barrier is crucial for overall skin health as it helps prevent hydration loss, protects against environmental damage, and reduces the risk of skin conditions like eczema and acne. By strengthening your skin barrier, you ensure your skin remains well-hydrated, resilient, and protected.

Anti-Redness

Anti-Redness skincare is all about reducing and preventing facial or body redness, which can result from irritation, skin conditions, compromised barriers, and hormonal changes. A targeted approach with multiple strategies works best for tackling redness. Anti-Redness formulations include active ingredients that soothe and strengthen your skin barrier. Their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties calm inflammation and protect against environmental irritants. Additionally, these ingredients have vasoconstrictive properties, meaning they reduce blood vessel dilation to lessen redness. Together, these actions help achieve a more even-toned, balanced complexion that's less prone to redness flare-ups.

Brightening (Energising)

Brightening skincare involves using active ingredients to boost your blood circulation, detoxification and cellular energy. Improved blood circulation brings more essential nutrients and oxygen to your skin, while detoxification helps eliminate cell waste and impurities that can make your skin look dull. Certain active ingredients also enhance your skin's metabolism and regeneration. These combined actions restore your skin's vitality and radiant appearance, giving you a fresh, energised complexion.

Anti-Pigmentation

Dealing with pigmentation means targeting melanin overproduction to reduce dark spots and prevent new ones. Melanin production can be triggered by UV exposure, pollution, hormonal changes (like during pregnancy), and inflammation (from acne or cuts). This excess pigment is then transferred to surrounding cells in epidermis called keratinocytes, which then moves to the skin's surface, causing visible dark spots.

To treat hyperpigmentation, a personalised and consistent approach is needed. Our anti-pigmentation products include lightening agents to block tyrosinase (the enzyme that creates melanin), antioxidants to fight free radicals, and ingredients to speed up skin cell turnover, removing pigmented cells. Using broad-spectrum sun protection is crucial to prevent new pigmentation during treatment.

Salicylic Acid

A clinically proven beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that penetrates deep within the pores to dissolve excess sebum, impurities and congestion at the source. By exfoliating both the skin's surface and within the pore lining, it helps minimise blemishes, refine texture and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, leaving the complexion clearer, smoother and more balanced.

Glycolic Acid

The most effective and extensively researched alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), Glycolic Acid accelerates cellular renewal by gently dissolving the bonds between dead skin cells. It visibly smooths texture, brightens dullness, softens fine lines and promotes a more even, radiant complexion while supporting healthier skin turnover.

Lactic Acid

A gentle yet highly effective alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates while replenishing hydration. Naturally found within the skin's Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF), Lactic Acid refines rough texture, enhances radiance and improves moisture retention, revealing softer, smoother and more luminous skin with exceptional comfort.

Beta-Glucan

Beta-glucan, derived from yeast, is a chain of sugar molecule known for its humectant (hydrating), collagen-boosting, and anti-inflammatory properties. It strengthens the skin barrier, supports a balanced microbiome, and enhances resilience against environmental aggressors. Beta-glucan deeply hydrates the skin, diminishes wrinkles, and provides a soothing effect, making a great multi-benefit ingredient for all skin types.

Allantoin

Allantoin is a natural plant derivative, widely used in skincare for its soothing, hydrating, softening and healing properties.

Licorice Root Extract

Derived from the Glycyrrhiza Glabra plant, Licorice Root Extract is a potent botanical known for its brightening, soothing, and reparative properties. Rich in glabridin and liquiritin, it helps to inhibit tyrosinase activity, visibly reducing hyperpigmentation and dark spots while promoting a more even skin tone. Its natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions help to calm redness, support healing, and protect the skin from environmental aggressors. Licorice Root Extract promotes a clearer, brighter, and a more balanced complexion over time.

Physical & Chemical Exfoliation

Physical and chemical exfoliation are two popular techniques for removing dead skin cells and promoting a healthier, more radiant complexion. Each method offers unique benefits and targets skin concerns differently, making them key components in any effective skincare routine. Exfoliation helps to improve skin texture, unclog pores, and enhance the absorption of skincare products, leading to smoother, brighter skin.

Physical exfoliation offers immediate results, while chemical exfoliation promotes deeper, longer-lasting effects without the risk of physical irritation. Physical exfoliation involves the use of scrubs, brushes, or cloths with granules that manually slough off dead skin cells from the surface. This method provides instant smoothness but can sometimes cause micro-tears, making it less suitable for sensitive skin types.

Chemical exfoliation, on the other hand, employs acids (like AHAs, BHAs) or enzymes to dissolve dead skin cells at a deeper level. This process promotes cell turnover, enhances the skin’s natural renewal process, and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation, and dullness without abrasive action, making it gentler for sensitive skin.

Physical exfoliation delivers a quick, refreshed feel, but those with sensitive skin might find it too abrasive. Chemical exfoliation gradually reveals smoother, brighter skin with regular use, and is generally better suited for those seeking a gentler approach with deeper results. Users often notice improved skin clarity, reduced congestion, and an overall glow.

Both exfoliation methods have their place in a skincare routine, offering tailored solutions depending on skin type and needs. By choosing the right type of exfoliation, you can achieve a smoother, more radiant complexion that feels fresh, revitalised, and renewed, enhancing your overall skin health and appearance.
