The Demain Beauty Anti-Blemish Treatment is a lightweight, non-comedogenic fluid for combination, oily and blemish-prone skin that targets excess sebum, enlarged pores, blackheads and breakouts, combining a zinc-enriched postbiotic complex with sebum-regulating botanical oils and a microbiome-rebalancing prebiotic ferment.

Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment acts as the hero postbiotic active — delivering targeted antibacterial action against the C. acnes strains responsible for breakouts, while its zinc content regulates sebum production, accelerates healing, reduces redness and provides meaningful anti-ageing support, all without disrupting the wider balance of the skin's microbiome.

Leuconostoc Radish Root Ferment Filtrate acts as the prebiotic microbiome protector — selectively nourishing beneficial bacteria, inhibiting the proliferation of pathogenic strains and reinforcing the skin's natural bacterial defences with every use, while Aloe Vera Leaf Juice soothes inflammation, calms redness and supports the skin's healing response.

Saccharide Isomerate and Glycerin act as the hydrating core — drawing water into the skin and maintaining hydration levels without heaviness, while Tocopherol, Squalene and Beta-Sitosterol complete the formula with layered antioxidant and barrier support.

Hazelnut Oil and Jojoba Oil form the core sebum-regulating and nourishing lipid complex — Hazelnut Oil, exceptionally rich in unsaturated fatty acids, actively regulates excess sebum, calms inflammation, tightens pores and supports the healing of blemishes and post-acne marks without congesting the pore, while Jojoba Oil mirrors the skin's own sebum composition to hydrate and protect without heaviness or comedogenic risk.

Microbiome Balancing

Microbiome Balancing skincare focuses on supporting the skin’s ecosystem through a precise combination of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics—each playing a distinct and complementary role. Prebiotics act as a targeted nutrient source, feeding and promoting the growth of beneficial microorganisms to maintain balance within the skin’s microbiome. Probiotics then introduce and reinforce these beneficial bacteria, helping to strengthen the skin’s natural defenses and reduce the presence of harmful strains. Postbiotics, the bioactive compounds produced through this process, enhance overall skin function by supporting barrier strength, improving hydration, and calming inflammation. Together, this synergistic approach stabilises the skin environment, resulting in a complexion that is clearer, more resilient, and visibly healthier.

Balancing the Skin pH

Skin pH balancing involves keeping your skin's pH slightly acidic, between 4.5 and 6.5. This acidity is vital for the skin’s barrier, known as the acid mantle, which protects against harmful bacteria, pollutants, and environmental stressors while retaining hydration.

When your skin's pH is out of balance, you might experience dryness, irritation, acne, and increased sensitivity. Using skincare products that balance your skin’s pH helps preserve the acid mantle, keeping your skin healthy, hydrated, and resilient against external factors.

Anti-Inflammatory

Anti-Inflammatory skincare soothes, heal, and balance your skin, the targeted actives are designed to reduce inflammation. Inflammation is your body's natural response to injury or irritation, but continuous inflammation can lead to troublesome skin conditions like acne, rosacea, or eczema. Our anti-inflammatory skincare solutions work to soothe and calm your skin, reducing redness, swelling, and discomfort to provide much-needed relief. By strengthening your skin's barrier, these products help protect against further irritation and damage. Additionally, the anti-inflammatory actives support your skin's natural healing processes, leading to a more balanced and resilient complexion.

Sebum Regulating (Mattifying)

Sebum regulation involves normalising oil production in your sebaceous glands to reduce shine, oiliness and breakouts, restoring your skin's natural balance. Overactive sebaceous glands can be triggered by internal factors like genetics, hormonal changes and stress, as well as external factors such as using stripping or overly active skincare, climate, pollution and diet. Excessive sebum production can lead to enlarged pores, acne and an oily, shiny appearance. Effective sebum regulation means using skincare products that balance oil levels without over-drying your skin, helping you achieve a clearer, more matte complexion.

Anti-Bacterial

Anti-bacterial action targets and inhibits the growth of bacteria on your skin's surface. Anti-bacterial ingredients work by disrupting essential bacterial processes like cell wall synthesis or protein production, reducing the risk of skin infections and inflammation. They are especially effective for treating acne by controlling the acne-causing bacteria known as Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes). This anti-bacterial action helps diminish imperfections, prevent new breakouts, and reduce irritation, giving you clearer, healthier skin.

Pore Decongesting

Pore decongesting focuses on both clearing and minimising the appearance of enlarged pores. Enlarged pores often result from excess oil production and the build-up of impurities within the pore, which can stretch them over time, while ageing further contributes as reduced elasticity makes them more visible. Effective formulations work first to clear the pores—dissolving and removing trapped sebum, debris, and congestion—before regulating oil production and supporting collagen and elastin to improve skin firmness. By addressing both internal build-up and structural integrity, pores can return to a clearer, more refined, and less noticeable state.

Hydrating

Hydration is a fundamental part of healthy skincare, focusing on maintaining and restoring the skin’s water content. Well-hydrated skin appears plump, smooth and radiant, while dehydration can lead to dullness, tightness, fine lines and increased sensitivity.
Hydrating the skin can work through a fascinating mix of ingredients with different roles. Humectants like hyaluronic acid and glycerin act like water magnets, pulling water into the skin to instantly plump and smooth, while Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs)—such as urea, amino acids and sodium PCA—mimic the skin’s own hydration system, helping it hold onto water and stay balanced from within.
Adding humectants like hyaluronic acid to your routine will restore your skin's healthy glow, minimize fine lines, and provide a plumping effect.

Anti-Redness

Anti-Redness skincare is all about reducing and preventing facial or body redness, which can result from irritation, skin conditions, compromised barriers, and hormonal changes. A targeted approach with multiple strategies works best for tackling redness. Anti-Redness formulations include active ingredients that soothe and strengthen your skin barrier. Their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties calm inflammation and protect against environmental irritants. Additionally, these ingredients have vasoconstrictive properties, meaning they reduce blood vessel dilation to lessen redness. Together, these actions help achieve a more even-toned, balanced complexion that's less prone to redness flare-ups.

Reduces Trans Epidermal Water Loss

Reducing Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) is key to maintaining your skin’s optimal hydration levels. By strengthening your skin’s natural barrier, these ingredients prevent water from escaping, keeping your skin well-hydrated and plump. The result is a smoother, more supple complexion with improved texture and resilience, giving you a healthier, more radiant look.

Nourishing

Nourishing skincare focuses on replenishing the skin with essential lipids, nutrients, and bioactive compounds to restore comfort, resilience, and optimal function. When the skin is depleted—whether through environmental stress, over-exfoliation, or natural ageing—it can become dry, fragile, and less able to protect itself. Nourishing formulations work to rebuild the lipid barrier using ingredients rich in fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, helping to reinforce the skin’s structure while supporting repair and reducing moisture loss. By restoring what the skin lacks, this approach leaves it softer, stronger, and more supple.

Antioxidant

Antioxidant skincare is dedicated to protecting the skin against oxidative stress—one of the primary drivers of premature ageing and cellular damage—while preserving overall skin integrity and vitality. These formulations rely on potent molecules such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and polyphenols, which neutralize free radicals generated by UV exposure and environmental aggressors before they can compromise cellular structures like lipids, proteins, and DNA. Beyond defence, many antioxidants also support repair processes and enhance collagen stability, contributing to improved firmness, brightness and resilience. The result is skin that is not only shielded from ongoing damage but maintained in a healthier, more luminous state over time.

Non-Comedogenic

Non-comedogenic skincare is specifically formulated to avoid clogging pores, making it ideal for skin prone to congestion, breakouts, or excess oil. These formulations are carefully designed using ingredients that do not block the pore or contribute to the build-up of sebum and debris within it, allowing the skin to function normally without obstruction. By maintaining clear pores and supporting a balanced skin environment, non-comedogenic products help reduce the likelihood of blackheads, whiteheads, and blemishes.

Lactobacillus Ferment

Lactobacillus Ferment, a probiotic derived from the fermentation of Lactobacillus bacteria that focuses on microbiome balancing. A balanced microbiome is crucial for healthy skin as it strengthens the skin's barrier, reduces inflammation, and improves hydration, resulting in healthier and more resilient skin. It also helps maintain optimal pH levels and protects against infections.

Zinc Extract

Zinc Extract offers potent healing, astringent (pore-tightening), and antimicrobial properties. It helps regulate hormone-triggered oil production, effectively mattifying skin, shrinking enlarged pores, and reducing the appearance of breakouts.

Radish Root Ferment

Radish Root Ferment acts as a targeted prebiotic — selectively feeding and strengthening beneficial bacteria on the skin's surface while simultaneously inhibiting the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. This dual action supports a more balanced, diverse and resilient skin microbiome, creating the conditions in which the skin's own natural defence and repair mechanisms can function optimally.

Aloe Leaf Juice

Aloe Leaf Juice has a long history of use for its calming, anti-inflammatory, and hydrating effects on the skin. Its versatility makes it suitable for all skin types, especially beneficial for dehydrated, weakened, and sensitive skin.

Saccharide Isomerate (PENTAVITIN)

Saccharide Isomerate, also known as PentavitinÆ, is a carbohydrate complex derived from plants that closely resembles those found in human skin. It serves multiple functions in skincare: first, it acts as a prebiotic, supporting a healthy balance of microorganisms on the skin's surface, which is crucial for maintaining skin health.

Secondly, Saccharide Isomerate functions as a powerful humectant. This means it attracts moisture from the environment and binds it to the skin, acting like a "water magnet." This ability helps to deeply hydrate the skin, making it appear plump, smooth, and intensely moisturised.

Studies have shown that Saccharide Isomerate can increase skin hydration levels for up to 72 hours after application, making it an effective ingredient for providing long-lasting hydration and maintaining skin moisture balance.

Glycerin

Glycerin is a potent humectant commonly used in skincare for its powerful hydrating properties. It works by attracting water molecules from the atmosphere and retaining them in the deeper layers of the skin, effectively boosting hydration reservoir. This helps to plump up the skin, resulting in reduced dehydration lines and a soft, supple complexion.

Hazelnut Oil

Hazelnut Oil, naturally rich in Vitamin E, Antioxidants, and Fatty Acids, replenishes and strengthens the skin barrier, leaving it nourished and soft. This lightweight, fast-absorbing oil also helps to enhance skin hydration and protects against environmental damage.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil has a similar oil composition to human sebum (oil) This similarity allows it to replenish the hydro-lipidic film and regulate sebum overproduction, without clogging pores or creating a greasy feel. When applied to the skin, Jojoba Oil can trick the skin into thinking it has produced enough oil, thereby reducing excessive oil production. Additionally, it has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, making it ideal for congested, oily, and blemish-prone skin.

Pre, Pro & Postbiotics

The skin's microbiome — the vast, complex community of bacteria, fungi and microorganisms that live on its surface — is one of its most powerful and most overlooked defence systems. When balanced, it regulates inflammation, protects against environmental aggressors, supports barrier function and keeps the complexion clear and resilient. When disrupted by harsh cleansers, antibiotics, pollution or stress, the consequences show up directly on the skin — as sensitivity, breakouts, redness and accelerated ageing.
Prebiotics feed and strengthen the beneficial bacteria already present on the skin, creating the conditions for a thriving, diverse microbiome. Probiotics — whether live or tyndallized — introduce beneficial bacterial strains that actively rebalance flora, calm inflammation and reinforce the skin's natural defences. Postbiotics are the bioactive byproducts produced when probiotics ferment, delivering concentrated anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and barrier-repairing benefits directly to the skin. Together, the three work in intelligent synergy — nurturing, rebalancing and fortifying the microbiome at every level for skin that is not just visibly healthier, but fundamentally stronger from the inside out.

Why I love it

  • What sets Demain Beauty apart is how effortlessly these formulas translate the science of the microbiome into results you can actually see and feel. Each product is built around a sophisticated pre, pro and postbiotic complex — working in genuine harmony with the skin's own ecosystem rather than disrupting it, stripping it back or overwhelming it with unnecessary actives. It is intelligent, considered skincare that respects the skin's natural intelligence in return.
