"It's totally fine... right?"
Myth #1: Sleeping in your make-up is totally fine
Uncovered: Sleeping in your make-up is not fine! Now I know what you’re thinking, you’ve just got home after a long day, maybe even a night out. You step off the tube or bus and all that pollution and grime is heavy in your pores right now. And so be it, you get home, kick off your heels and have that moment of relief of pure comfort. Then reality sets in and that walk to the bathroom is just that little bit too far to get stuck into your cleansing routine…
Well… here is what could happen if you sleep in your make-up (sorry in advance):

Myth #3: You don’t need to use a Hydrating Serum if you have oily skin
Uncovered: This couldn’t be more untrue! One of the main causes of breakouts is dehydration, so always remember… hydrated skin equals healthy skin! So even though your skin may have excess oil, it doesn’t mean it has excess water, probably the opposite in fact. There are many factors that contribute to dehydration in oily skin such as cold weather, harsh skincare products, hot water and even ageing. All these factors can actually interfere with our skin and cause it to have oily outbursts! Then, before we know it, the skin can no longer act as a barrier to water loss and it becomes dry. So! Let’s keep your skin hydrated, especially if it’s oily!

Myth #4: The rosy tint you get on your cheeks from long period of exposure to the cold is healthy and normal.
Uncovered: Redness is normally the skin red flagging us and telling us something is up. If you see your cheeks turning red this is actually your body reacting to being cold and it’s attempt at reducing blood flow to the surface. Medically known as Vasoconstriction, the blood vessels in your face dilate and then literally burst after narrowing. So how can we stop this from happening?
Firstly, we need to make sure we exfoliate regularly, this will strengthen the skin’s barrier and reduce redness flareups. Another way of preventing this is by using a slightly thicker face cream that mimics the lipid barrier (the layer of skin that protects). Also, by using an antioxidant, this can help the skin to regenerate and self-repair.
So, which products should we be using?
Let’s start with the exfoliant:
Skin Instants®: Thin and/or Reactive to Normal
This is our gentlest exfoliator, infused with Arnica, it soothes and protects the skin whilst it slowly penetrates the skin to remove dead cells and impurities. It then strengthens the skin through enhancing skin cell renewal – pure magic!
How To Use: For the first two weeks of use, apply a few drops to dampened cotton pads with cold water, and press and release, patting the product all over face, neck and décolleté, morning and evening. Please do not rub and only pass over each area once. After two weeks of use, if the skin is not sensitive to the product, switch to dry cotton pads.
