Unlike high molecular weight forms that primarily hydrate the skin’s surface, LMW-HA has the ability to penetrate deeper into the epidermis, where it attracts and binds water to maintain optimal moisture levels from within. This deep hydration helps improve skin elasticity, firmness, and smoothness, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and dehydration-induced wrinkles. Additionally, LMW-HA supports skin barrier repair and enhances overall suppleness, making the complexion look plumper and more resilient. An elastin fragment, in the form of a bioactive hexapeptide, acts as a signaling molecule that interacts with fibroblasts, the primary cells responsible for producing extracellular matrix proteins like elastin and collagen. These proteins are critical for maintaining the skin's structural integrity, elasticity, and hydration. When the hexapeptide binds to specific receptors on the surface of fibroblasts, it activates intracellular signaling pathways such as the MAPK (Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase) pathway. This leads to the upregulation of genes involved in the synthesis of elastin and collagen.
