Colour-Protecting

Colour Protection in haircare is essential for maintaining vibrancy, strength, and long-term hair health, especially after colouring or chemical treatments. Daily exposure to UV rays, frequent washing, and thermal styling can break down pigments, weaken the cuticle, and leave hair dull and fragile.

Dandruff

Dandruff is a common dermatological condition characterised by the presence of white or yellowish flakes of desquamated stratum corneum on the scalp. It is frequently accompanied by pruritus (itching) and may extend beyond the scalp to affect adjacent areas.

The pathophysiology of dandruff involves a complex interaction between sebaceous gland activity, individual immune response, and the microbiome of the scalp, particularly the overgrowth of the yeast-like fungus Malassezia spp., which is lipophilic and thrives in sebum-rich environments. This fungus is a normal commensal of human skin, but under certain conditions, it can proliferate excessively and disrupt the balance of the skin barrier.

In response to the irritation caused by Malassezia metabolites (e.g., oleic acid), the skin may increase sebum production and accelerate epidermal cell turnover. This leads to the accumulation and rapid shedding of corneocytes, which combine with excess oil and fungal elements to form visible flakes. These components can further irritate the skin, perpetuating a cycle of inflammation and scaling.
