AUTEUR: Exclusively Launching at EB

We are so very proud to be the first to launch Auteur Skincare exclusively in the UK!!

Elevating skincare to an art-form, AUTEUR is the absolute ultimate in uber luxury.

A rare find, Auteur represents innovative, incredibly complex and seriously advanced skincare formulations matched with supreme quality, elegance and intricacy when it comes to their packaging.

Auteur advanced Formulations

With some of the most intricate formulations I have ever seen, each Auteur product incorporates so many actions, it’s literally unbelievable!

To give you an example, the cleanser … which is usually the most basic of formulations encompasses all of the following actions:

  • EXFOLIATING (both manual AND physical)
  • SEBUM REGULATING
  • NOURISHING
  • HYDRATING
  • ANTI-PIGMENTATION
  • ANTIOXIDANT
  • ANTI-WRINKLE
  • PLUMPING

And that’s just the cleanser, can you imagine what a serum would do?!?

So…. Instead of trying to explain each product, (as this would turn out to be more of a book rather that a blog) I have chosen to explain one of the fundamental pillars held within this impressive brand:

Their extensive use of ANTIOXIDANTS & PEPTIDES within ALL of their products.

As a skincare enthusiast, I was always mostly impressed with actions that would improve my own personal skin. So, earlier in life, I was obsessed with truly finding out how to relieve my acne, blackheads and enlarged pores as my skin was incredibly oily, unbalanced and I experienced a lot of breakouts … mainly monthly, and I just HAD to figure out how to break that vicious cycle.

Now that I am more mature, my focus is on a smoooooooth and plump skin, and this is exactly where the antioxidants and peptides come into my life! So here it goes, let’s break it all down and see how Auteur have answered all of my prayers on this one!

What are antioxidants?

In last week’s edition of the blog we covered in depth the science behind antioxidants and free radicals, so to read that please do click here.

To paraphrase, antioxidants work to protect the skin from aggressors like pollution and heavy metals, ensuring cells do not oxidise - meaning they become damaged or dysfunctional and then don’t work.

BUT antioxidants also do LOTS of anti-ageing things like

  • Plumping the skin
  • Smoothing out those wrinkles
  • Tightening and contouring your jawline…

I think you get where I’m going on this one ... right?!

What are peptides?

Peptides, as well as polypeptides, are naturally occurring in the skin, but they are also included in many skin care products - and for good reason.

Peptides are amino acids that make up certain proteins needed by the skin. More specifically, collagen is made of three polypeptide chains so adding peptides can stimulate your skin to make collagen.

More collagen leads to firmer, tighter and more taut skin …. Oh yeah!

Your body makes collagen naturally, but over time, collagen production decreases, which can cause skin to look more wrinkled and less even and dull, so we constantly need to be strengthening and protecting our natural collagen, but we also need to add more in.

According to experts, we lose 1% of our remaining collagen per year after the age of 30. Our skin’s natural communication channels also slow down over time.

But simply slathering peptides onto your skin doesn’t necessarily give you more of them. How they work is a little more complex: your body sees these peptides as signals that you need to heal, which tells your body to produce more collagen and then directs it where is needs to go.

For example, if you are healing from an injury in your ankle, those peptides will signal your body to focus its repair efforts in that joint. If your skin is ageing prematurely, those peptides might signal your skin to boost its production of collagen and even hyaluronic acid, plumping up your skin and restoring a healthy skin barrier. When you introduce peptides onto the skin in the form of a cream or serum, it tricks the skin into thinking there’s been an injury or wound, and it stimulates our collagen-boosting processes.

Different peptides can offer a multitude of benefits for the skin, and this is evident from the range in AUTEUR’s products.

These benefits include but are nowhere limited to:

  • Improvement of the skin barrier (shielding and protecting your skin from damage)
  • Reduction of wrinkles
  • Increase in elastin within the skin
  • The easing of inflammation and antimicrobial factors that can help with acneic skin.

When it comes to skin care, not all peptides are created equal. While there are hundreds of peptides, there are specific peptides that are more efficacious for the skin than others.

For example:

  • Carrier peptides deliver trace minerals to the skin to boost collagen, while enzyme inhibitor peptides work to slow down the skin’s natural breakdown of collagen.
  • Signal peptides send messages to different parts of the skin to promote collagen, elastin and other proteins
  • Neurotransmitter peptides, touted as “botox-like”, block the release of chemicals that cause the muscle contraction of expression lines, thus smoothing wrinkles.

Now let’s look at these specifically under the lens of AUTEUR’s Definitive Collection.

The Definitive Collection

The Definitive Collection is described as a manifestation of AUTEUR’s philosophy; of exploration, discovery and revelation. AUTEUR’s products are specifically engineered to accelerate youthful skin functions to restore and protect skin’s appearance.

It is important to also note that all of AUTEUR’s products are cruelty-free and free from Parabens, PEGs, Mineral Oils, Dyes, Phthalates, Sulphates, Cyclomethicone and Nano … which is always a good thing!

AUTEUR’s debut range features 10 products that collectively boast over 100 high-active ingredients (including peptides and phytoactives), delivering results that begin deep below the skin’s surface.

The Definitive Collection features:

Firstly we will look at Bioplasma™ FA, one of AUTEUR’s trademarked ingredients. This is a combination of:

  • Phytoplankton extract: this is what feeds all of marine life in the ocean and provides every fundamental vitamin and mineral needed for healthy, glowing skin
  • Arginine Ferulate: This antioxidant promotes skin cell detoxification and guards against environmental damage leading to premature ageing. It also dramatically reduces the loss of hydration in the skin and in turn works to strengthen and protect the skin’s natural protective barrier.

Bioplasma™ FA has been proven to reduce wrinkle depth by 15% in just 28 days and is featured within the Definitive Line Serum and the Definitive Retinol Serum.

Next we have Bioyouth™ EGT, engineered growth factors formed from the fermentation of two potent mushrooms which contain both hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate and trehalose. So, what this does for you is the following:

  • It provides effective protection against free radical damage and skin cell oxidation caused by UVA exposure.
  • It boosts cellular regeneration
  • It enhances collagen and elastin synthesis and improves skin density, firmness and resiliency.
  • It reduces pigmentation in the skin due to the whitening properties found in the mushrooms.

Bioyouth™ EGT is featured in the Definitive Eye Cream, Definitive Density Cream or the Definitive Restoration Cream.

Now for the peptide complexes

An extremely exciting component within Auteur’s skincare is their Drone Delivery System within their peptide complexes. This is essentially a satellite navigation for your skin!

It encapsulates the ingredients which then prevent them from “releasing” until they get to their desired location, which in essence is the part of the skin where they’re actually needed.

Nothing gets lost in translation! - for example, a peptide designed for the collagen-producing fibroblasts in your skin will remain somewhat dormant until it reaches the fibroblasts. Isn’t that amazing!! No wastage of ingredients, these not only do exactly what they’re supposed to do, but they’re doing it exactly where you want them to do it! I wouldn’t get anywhere if it weren’t for my GPS in my car, that’s for sure!

This amazing Drone System is used with the amazing X50 Photoglow

Comprising chlorella vulgaris extract, glycolic and lactic acids and heptapeptides, this is a peptide complex that turns light into cell energy. Just like a solar panel for the skin!

  • It prevents wrinkles by creating new cells and increases elastin and collagen production.
  • It stimulates fibroblast growth and collagen formation, which improves skin density and increases luminosity and skin radiance.

X50 Photoglow is featured in the Definitive Lifting Toner

Golden Collagenine

Golden Collagenine doesn’t use the Drone Delivery System, but it does combine the luxury of gold and platinum with the efficacy of peptides.

  • It dramatically reduces lines and wrinkles.
  • It also increases the stability of active ingredients while it delivers collagen-boosting power directly to the fibroblast receptors for a healthier and firmer skin.
  • It increases skin bioavailability of active ingredients by up to 90x.

Golden Collagenine is featured in the Composition No.1, the Definitive Eye Cream, the Definitive Density Cream and the Definitive Restoration Cream

Another amazing anti-ageing peptide is SYN-AKE

Syn-Ake is an incredibly potent tri-peptide formulated to mimic a protein in the venom of the temple viper.

  • It quickly relaxes wrinkles and lifts skin.
  • It immediately reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • It increases skin density and tone for a tighter and taut skin
  • It also prevents further wrinkle formation for a youthful, smooth complexion.

SYN-AKE is featured in the Definitive Line Serum, the Composition No.1, the Definitive Eye Cream, the Definitive Density Cream and the Definitive Restoration Cream.
